I bring you news with tears of joy:
“We are pleased to inform you that upon review of your application for tax exempt status we have determined that you are exempt from Federal income tax under section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.”
We are grateful for the help we received from Senator Lisa Murkowski and the Taxpayer Advocate Service in bringing attention to our application and getting it moving through the process. But we know, without a doubt, that God has answered the fervent prayers of many people. We are humbled, grateful and excited. Please join us in giving God all praise and glory!
What next?
More prayer. I can tell you, there’s a surge of “now we can get moving!” But again, our prayer is to follow God into this impossible project and not get ahead of him.
There is immediate financial need for more materials (much has already been purchased) to complete the remodel. Teams are coming this summer to help with the construction and materials will need to be on site.
Furnishings are also needed to prepare the residence for the first two clients and the Barnabas Volunteer couple to mentor them. Lord willing, we will be opening our doors this Fall 2014 as projected!
It can’t happen too soon. Interpersonal experiences of the past few months have magnified the need for this recovery ministry. As we come alongside people caught in the grip of lies and void of hope, it has deepened both our understanding of addiction and commitment to recovery.
Where Jesus is, there is truth, and hope, and freedom. We anticipate transformed lives!
And God will provide the means to accomplish the work he wants done.
